Evolution Bikes is owned and run by Gareth and Mat.....

Gareth

Gareth has been involved with cycling in some form of other for the best part of 20 years. This has included a successful competitive career culminating in representing both Great Britain and Wales, and competing against the likes of Tom Boonen, Andreas Kloden and Thomas Dekker, and riding in the 2004 Tour of Britain.

Gareth’s mechanics skills have been honed over the years working in bike shops, importing companies and hire centres. During the 2008 racing season, Gareth served as mechanic for a top UK domestic team, KFS Special Vehicles / Sunday Bicycles, which was led by professional cyclist Robin Sharman.

With all this knowledge and experience, Gareth is in an ideal position to advise on all things bikes – from equipment choice and bike sizing, to nutrition and training. He has also recently completed and passed the Trek fit course.

Mat

Mat is 28 and has been involved with bikes for nearly 14 years. He has represented Wales at junior level mountain biking and also rode the Junior Tour of Wales. 

He has worked in a number of local shops, and has been South of England Sales Manager for a bike distributor, working at major events and shows throughout the country. He is a trained Manitou Suspension service technician and at Revolution he looks after the mountain biking arm of the business. He will set up your bike, service disc brakes and service&set up the suspension.

Mat enjoys attending Mountain Bike Enduro Events i.e Merida Marathon Series and is looking forward to seeing you there.

Tom

Tom joined Evolution Bikes in July ’08. He is a keen mountain biker and has an interest in the more extreme side of the sport. Tom’s mechanical experience comes from a healthy interest in knowing how his own bike works and keeping it race ready.  He is the person to speak to on all things relating to downhill or dirt jump in the area.

If you buy him enough cake he might even tell you where his own secret tracks are!

Dan

Dan is the most recent addition to the Evolution team, having joined us during the summer of ’09.

He brings with him a high level of mechanical skills that have been honed whilst working at other bike shops and hire centres. Since joining us here his love of the sport has been rekindled and this autumn has seen him riding a mixture of mountain bike night rides and the occasional cyclocross race.

Harry

Harry is the youngest member of the Evolution team and has been with us since August 2008, dealing with the sales side of the shop. Harry has been a keen mountain biker since an early age, preferring downhill, freeride and skatepark, with his favourite riding location being the hills above and behind Llanfairfechan and Conwy. He also has a keen interest in the film and photography side of mountain biking.
